Grist for the Content Mill

Bunny with a microphone.Podcasters Love Me.

Sadly, even the finest comedienne cannot escape the roiling churn of disposable content that turns have been asked to make since the Lucky Strikes cigarette company first knocked - wheezing and hacking all the way up the steps - on the door of Jack Benny's palatial hovel. (In the good old days, you could have a lucrative career for decades from a simple act like climbing up a ladder and pretending to be drunk. Nowadays, TikTok would chew up a bit like that and mine it for every possible variation within an afternoon.)

The people cry out for Content and Abby Denton, like a faithful talking dog, happily obliges. Here is a compendium of podcast appearances Abby Denton has made (to the best of her recollection.)

Link-Rot and Moral Decay

Listen, if it looks like a link here goes to a site that's been bought out or been victimized by some kind of malware, just - just be cool, okay? Aw, I know you know what's what. You're a discerning Abby Denton fan.

Sonic the Comic the Podcast

Dave and Chris are two of my favorite people, and this exploration of their (well, mostly Dave's) nostalgic recollections of the 90s is less of Sonic podcast and more of a Sonic memento mori. The first time I appeared on this podcast I was quite self-conscious of my height relative to Dave.

In the manner of schoolyard bullies everywhere, I lashed out at the source of my insecurity, claiming that Dave was a tiny, tiny man, despite his powerful, baritone, radio announcer voice, describing his car (carved from a single acorn) and his clothing (sewn from a single blade of grass.)

This inadvertently created a running joke that spiraled so far out of control that, to my knowledge, Dave has had no less than three traumatic stress dreams about shrinking down so small that he no longer exists. I'm sorry, Dave, but you must admit that your pain is preferable to my being slightly embarrassed to be five feet, eight inches.

Anyway, the podcast is fine.

#132 - Puffy Vest - This episode contains an interlude where Dave recounts meeting his now-wife, also named Abby. He made me leave the room, which is a shame, because I think that my pitch, to have me in the background saying, "What?" every time he referred to his wife Abby, would have been very funny, albeit, to his point, also incredibly annoying.

The Hill is Always Greener

It was shortly after getting booked to talk to the talented gang at The Hill is Always Greener that a friend pointed out to me that I appear on an awful lot of Sonic the Hedgehog podcasts. I don't know why. I'm normal. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about Sonic, drawing pictures of Sonic, thinking about Sonic lore, playing Sonic games, thinking about kissing Sonic,

Sonic Weekly

The multitalented Grant Pardee is one of the hardest-working chaps in Sonic the Hedgehog-related showbiz and it's been an honor to appear on the SEGA Bits Sonic podcast from time to time.

Toho Yaro

Toho Yaro, may it rest in peace, was a fun little exploration of all sorts of genres of Japanese cinema. Sadly they folded before I could sell them on my dream episode about Raiga: God of Monsters.

We Thought About Games

Sid Menon is a handsome cuss, and with barely a wink he cajoled me into appearing with him on his podcast. Normally I leer at anything that guilts me into capitalizing a preposition like "About" in this title here, but I do like that Maverick Hunter Zero fellow. He's dreamy.

Talking Trek to You

I like Star Trek. It hits that great spot where the bad episodes are better than the good episodes, which makes it easy to chat about them. Shoot the craic, as they say in Sweden or wherever. Sadly, Talking Trek to You is dead. Long live Talking Trek to You.
